What's actually true
Managed honeybee colonies have actually INCREASED globally over the past 60 years — from ~50 million in 1961 to ~101 million in 2021 (FAO data). Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) peaked around 2006-2008 and its rate has declined significantly since; beekeepers manage colony losses at ~30-40% annually through splitting hives, and total colony counts remain stable or growing. The real concern is WILD native bees (bumblebees, solitary bees, etc.) — many species ARE declining due to habitat loss, pesticide exposure, and climate change, but they are distinct from managed honeybees. The Einstein quote is fabricated — there is no record of him saying it. The bee narrative conflates commercial honeybee health (a manageable economic problem) with wild pollinator biodiversity loss (a genuine ecological concern with different causes).
